Chores are such an important part of family life. Children need to learn responsibility. They need to know that running a household takes work and they need to be a part of that! It helps teach them about hard work and helps to build character! Every Monday for a few weeks I will have a new chore list up for different ages. At the end of the series I will add a free printable you can print out with each age group on it!
This is a list for your toddler/preschooler. Some of the things on this list would be better for your preschooler and some better for the toddler. Many will be for both! You will know what each child will be capable of! If you have a child with special needs keep in mind you may need to lower the age for that child.
Put Toys Away
Feed and Water the Pets
Wipe Down Table Tops
Dust (they love to use the feather duster)
Make Bed (younger children may just do the topper or comforter)
Set the Table
Throw Trash Away
Sort Laundry (great lesson on learning colors)
Get the Mail (assisted of course if mailbox is near road)
Clear the Table
Another benefit of working together at home is that it does help bond you with your children. It may not always feel like it when they are complaining but if you set up great habits when they are this young, they learn that this is a part of life and as you work together you talk together and that is connecting. Always a good thing!
I would love if you would add to the list. What chores do you have your preschooler/toddler do? I will add them to the printable at the end!
